In this episode of Magical mornings, we featured Sarang Patil who is one of the Famous Indian male vloggers. He has successfully completed various fashion projects with celebrities and his vlog is India’s leading Men’ Fashion and lifestyle vlog. He also is a part time celebrity stylist for Vicky Kaushal, Sarah Jane and many others. Also, he is known as the founder of heisgotthestyle group. He has also collaborated with a multitude of brands ranging from heist tree to high fashion such as TRS and a few more.

Q. How did your journey start and how is your experience so far?
SARANG: Ever since my childhood, I was just playing around with my colors and my patterns since I was very artistic. The only thing which evolved my style was to know what color combination goes well with each other and what are the contrasting colors, what colors are blocking and that’s how I started experimenting with monotone colors, color blocking and fabricants and patterns. That’s how I evolved my style or rather my personal style. In the fashion industry, it has been a wonderful journey since the beginning. I still remember the time; I sometimes dressed horribly or maybe I was under dressed for the shoots or the events but the fashion industry has helped me evolve and I am very happy with whatever I am doing. It has been a pleasure to be in this industry.
Q. Could you tell me some of your strengths that really helped you in vlogging?
SARANG: In terms of vlogging, I would say that my strengths would be my team because the team I started working with was the most wonderful team I could ever ask for. I started my career with GQ shoot for GQ India. Then I started working for the vlog with my favorite photographer Siddhi Sawant. I also had a manager who was really good at managing my timings, my shoots and everything else. So, my strengths were that I had people who were working on me and forming me. I think for vlogging or to run any business you need to have people who will motivate you and at the same time shares similar goals with you.
Q. How do you define success and what is your success mantra?
SARANG: Success is very hard to maintain because you have to work hard to reach your goals. I would say my success mantra would be to work hard, be unique, be creative and be consistent because that’s what actually matters. Don’t run behind trends because they come and go, what you need is your own impact in the world to maintain your success and your stability in the market.
Q. You seem to be quite obsessed with tattoos. Does this have, in any way, impact on you as an individual?
SARANG: I do have many tattoos but I do not think I am obsessed with them. I sometimes feel that my body is a canvas and I should paint it according to my beliefs. So, if you see my right hand its fully covered with the natural things right from the lotus, goldfish- the only fish which goes against the flow and there are mountains and waterfalls, again there are birds which is a symbol of one thing or another. I also have a few tattoos related to folk and faith because I do believe in those things. I do have a “forgive and forget” tattoo because I used to get very angry during my teenage years so I adapted to become quieter and more forgiving and forgetting type of person. I think my obsession with tattoos is about having really meaningful messages which play certain roles in my life.
Q. Would you like to highlight the genre you specifically focus upon while doing a vlog shoot?
SARANG: While I am shooting for a vlog or maybe a campaign, I always keep in mind that the product exactly goes as well as if I am shooting for my vlog or my personal style. I want to make my style so casual that people can actually wear it. Sometimes, I do experiment to the extreme level during editorial shoots where I wear the most fashionable clothes or whatever I want to wear or maybe what I feel good in. I always keep in mind that the lightings and the framing should be perfect because only then your concept and idea falls in a perfect place. So these are the things which I usually prefer while shooting for the vlog.
Q. If you would have stepped into my shoes what would you have asked yourself that I didn’t?
SARANG: If I would step into your shoes, I would ask where do I see myself in the next five years. And the answer would be walking down on New York street maybe with a cup of coffee and a cigarette because I think that’s the best combination that goes well with me and walking on something which I really love. Vlogging is something with which I am very happy doing but eventually I want to get into fashion production and maybe work for a magazine, a big shoot, commercials or campaigns. So that’s one thing I would always ask myself ‘Where do I see myself in the next five years’ and my answer changes every now and then. Right now, I am 26 and that’s how I imagine myself in the future.
