Here’s the interview of Sana with UnitePod.

Q. You have grown up to be a fabulous star. Can you share with us how this entire journey started for you?

Sana: I have to tell you about my childhood since its mostly related to it. As a child, I was shy, timid, below average kind of child who was always demotivated, often bullied and I have decide once I go to college, I am going to enjoy myself and try all my passions. I am going to try different styles of makeup, hairstyles and all that. To my surprise, I thought I was going to be the heroine of the college, but somehow people labelled me as a fashion disaster. I was bullied, made fun of and people use to say horrible things about my fashion sense which hurt and made me cry. I knew I was doing different and cool things which people did not really understand at that time and their comments were really hurtful. But then I decided not to give up or let anyone define me for who I am as a person. So I decided to use the powerful medium which is social media. To my surprise, when I started making different videos, trying out different fashion looks and posting them, I got so many followers. I still remember that I gained 10k followers in like 2-3 weeks. That was like a big deal at that time which made me believe in myself more. Moreover, I got a really good advice from one of my wise friends, she told me that I have got so many followers and I should not be wasting it. She told me to do something productive out of it. She told me that I can be a social media influencer and the next big social media star. That concept was new to me but I knew that social media is going to be a boom in the coming times and I always had that intuition. She motivated me and then I started getting a lot of brand collaborations from different brands. I also became a brand ambassador for a few brands. That’s how my journey started. From 0 followers to almost 2 million followers in my Instagram account which was a huge deal for me.

Q. Being an influencer you have managed to garb many awards. Can you highlight some of them and how you feel about all these achievements?

Sana: I really love awards, all of them. I think they are a token of appreciation that kind of motivates me and conveys my great work that keeps me going. The first award I got was as the Student of the Year when I was in college which was not related to being an influencer, but it was a motivating factor for me. I felt like it was a great comeback against my bullies. I then went on to become an influencer. I won Adidas Influencer of the year and we all know that Adidas is a big brand. So winning an award for Influencer of the year from them was a huge thing. And then I won Youth’s Famous cricket and it was also a huge thing that motivated me. So these two awards will always be close to my heart.

Q. You got featured in a lot of music videos. Do you have any personal favorites?

Sana: I have worked in 8 to 9 music videos in which my favorite is Rangroot. It’s a Haryanvi song and it was record breaking. We made around 7 million views in around 4 days. That was something great that is also from a regional song. And the one I am really waiting for is going to be released. It's called Dilse Remix. It’s an iconic song and I am glad that for its part 2, I am the lead actress for the song and I am really looking forward to it.

Q. What’s the one moment that changed everything for you?

Sana: The one moment that changed my life is a very small thing honestly. That small thing gave me big dreams and motivation. Once during my college days, I remember I wanted to participate in a fashion show but my seniors were not allowing me and told me I was unfit for being the part of the fashion show and that I don’t have what it takes in me. It was so hurtful and made me really angry, so I just challenged them and told them that I would be coming to judge this fashion show which I am not even allowed to participate in. I do not know why I said that but it just came true in a year. During the next year of that college festival, I was called as a chief guest and as a judge. This was the same show where I was not allowed to participate. That was something that made me feel that I stood true to what I said. That was one thing that changed my life and made me believe that if you have the will and courage, you can do it .

Q. You got featured on the billboard of New York times Square. Would you like to mention more about it?

Sana: That was a dream come true for me. I was bullied often, very de-motivated, and achieving to be featured on the billboard in New York Times Square was like a dream come true. Because very few Indians are featured in it, I just randomly participated in this pageant. The reason why I participated in it was to because I wanted to be featured in New York Times Square and I am so glad that happened. I worked hard, believed in it and I got it. Things started to fall in place later on and I got my Instagram page verified which made me gain more followers. People started picturing me as an icon and messaged me that I motivate and inspire them. I must say that that was an iconic moment of my life.

Q. What message do you have for all our listeners and fans and where can they connect with you?

Sana: The message that I have for all the listeners is that you have to believe in yourself. That’s the key because if you don’t believe in yourself no one else will. No matter what people say, no matter how many times they tell you that you are not good enough, you can’t let other people define you as a person. Because you know what you are and you believe in yourself and if you work hard, dream big and you know what you want to be, keep moving forward. Don’t listen to anyone. Stay focused, believe in yourself, believe in your dreams and work hard towards it and you will definitely shine. As for where they can connect with me, they can mail me, DM me on instagram and I will try my best to answer all the lovely messages.

Thank you so much for being here, Sana. It was such a pleasure talking to you.

Sana: We are already at the end of the show and it was so much fun. This podcast made me feel nostalgic with your questions. And I just want to repeat again that you are limitless, you have it in you and no matter what people say, believe in yourself. Everybody has a purpose to fulfil. If god has made you, you have a purpose and you just have to find it out and you will shine. Thank you so much for joining me.
