Rishabh Gemini on Magical Mornings: UnitePod- A Leading Podcast in MENA region

In this episode of Magical Mornings, we featured Rishabh Gemini who is a Food Blogger, YouTuber and an avid Traveler. He is also known by the name the the_foodie_bae.

Here’s the interview of Rishabh Gemini with UnitePod.

Q. You’ve been putting up really great content for your audience and just going through your instagram feed makes our mouths water. All our listeners would love to hear a bit about your journey. How did it kick start and reach to a point where you are today?

Rishabh: So this started in July 2017. I was in my second year of engineering. I used to randomly scroll on Instagram at night and used to see some people uploading pictures of good food. I also use to click pictures. I had the habit of clicking pictures of food whenever I went out with my friends. I thought that I can also do it. Gradually I started uploading pictures of food and I got very good response. The main thing which I consider led me to this success is consistency. I had this consistency from the past three years till now. And now here I am with the Instagram handle The Foodie Bae.

Q. Who or what inspired you to start creating content about food?

Rishabh: I will not say that I have been inspired by someone rather it was something of my own. College time is a phase in which everyone goes out to eat and hang out after the classes or bunking their classes with their friends. I was also going through the same phase. I made it a habit of clicking pictures of everything I ate just for memory. It used to be good pictures not just some pictures for fun. When I was in school I didn’t go out very often so college was the time when we used to explore everything which is possible in Delhi. So that’s where all this started.

Q. You have visited innumerable restaurants for food blogging. What is your process of choosing the locations?

Rishabh: My main idea during that time was to feature places that are accessible and pocket friendly to the college students and they are hidden gems. Hidden Gems are those places which don’t get much coverage and also not listed on Zomato or other platform. It is our responsibility to take them out because those places cannot be covered automatically. So I used to cover those places. There were times when we were able to get many attractions. Them getting a rise in their business with a little help of mine was a very big thing for me.

Q. Do you cook? If so, which is your favorite cuisine that you like to cook and why?

Rishabh: Yes, absolutely. I love cooking. I am cooking from the age of 13 and now I am 23. So it’s been 10 years. I love to cook North Indian cuisine like Dal Makhani, especially Paneer dishes and Pav Bhaji. I personally like sweets very much. So during the lockdown period, I cooked many dishes like Tiramisu and Cheesecake. I also experiment on many things but north Indian is definitely my thing.

Q. Along with food blogging, you seem to be traveling too. How has traveling to different places and meeting new people molded you as a person?

Rishabh: So according to a research, every individual has an average of five people around them. Back in my school days, I was a very shy kid and didn’t want to interact with anyone. I just wanted to play video games and watch TV in a room. Food blogging gave me an opportunity to interact with different people and listen to them and their ideologies. It helped me looking at a thing from a different perspective and definitely made me a better person.

Q. Out of all the places that you have traveled so far, which is one place that you feel the listeners should visit at least once in their lifetime?

Rishabh: I have started travelling just recently. I haven’t covered many of the places from my bucket list yet. But recently, I have been to Ladakh and had a chance to go to Kargil. Most people go to Leh, Ladakh, but very few of them go to Kargil. It is very beautiful, untouched and unexplored. The people in Kargil were also very humble. So it’s definitely worth a visit. That place is very beautiful. I love mountainous areas and love to visit them. I have been to most of the cities in Himachal Pradesh. After going to Kargil, I thought that I haven’t seen anything more beautiful in my life.

Q. If you could step into my shoes, what would you have asked yourself that I didn’t?

Rishabh: The only question that I hear a lot and that you didn’t ask me is how much do you earn from this.

Q. How do you think the pandemic has affected food blogging and traveling?

Rishabh: During this pandemic and lockdown, I think all the food bloggers and influencers had covered those things on their feed that they weren’t able to do earlier. It was going in a very conventional way with all of them going to places and uploading pictures of the food. But during this time, we got to know that there are very interesting things which can be done. These were quiet engaging. So we explored those things. We made a lot of recipes and experimented on lot of things. We created content which helped us to engage the audience. Instagram reels section also made quite a good impression on the creators to create good content. As far as travelling is concerned, it definitely got affected due to the pandemic. But many other travel opportunities were available for people. Personally, I think people went to places where they didn’t want to go in earlier days. So that’s a very good thing.

Q. What message do you have for our listeners and all your fans and where can they connect with you?

Rishabh: I just want to say to all my listeners that just do your thing. Whatever comes in your mind, just go for it. Don’t question yourself if you can be successful. If I hadn’t started this blogging, I wouldn’t have known that I am good at it. So stop procrastinating and go for it. If you don’t even try, you won’t be able to know if you are good at it. You can find me on Instagram and YouTube by the name of The Foodie Bae. Have a nice day.

Thank you so much for being our guest today. It’s been a pleasure talking to you about your journey from Engineering to Food blogging to travelling. I hope you accomplish all your achievements that you have planned for 2021. Thank You.

Rishabh: Thank you so much for inviting me. I am glad to be on this podcast.
