She has diligently been curating fashion-related content from the past six years on various social media platforms. Instagram being her strength, she has taken her love for high street fashion to another level with hands-on practical hacks under the hash tags #NMRethinks and #hacksbyniki. She firmly believes that in this rat race of changing fashion trends, one should not feel left out and instead be more open to finding one's own style. She has had the immense opportunity to be featured in and on the cover of various magazines. Apart from that, she has been invited to radio shows, podcasts and Fashion Weeks in the Top Fashion International cities in the world. Our Niki also holds the “Best Indian Fashion Influencer 2018” award at the JD Fashion Awards and News X Women Achiever’s Award 2019 and the Telsey Fashion Blogger 2020 award.
Here’s the interview with Niki Mehra with Unitepod.
Q. You have got an amazing sense of fashion and you always come up with such amazing outfits. Can you briefly tell me how this entire journey started for you?
Niki: Well, when people hear that I am a fashion blogger and they like what I do they always assume that I have a fashion degree and studied fashion. But my studies were far different from that. I mastered in economics where my blogging journey actually started. I was in the middle of my masters, the course was very tough and I wanted to create an outlet. So, blogging just happened naturally to me.
Q. Talking about fashion, from your point of view, what is the most noticeable trend for the upcoming season?
Niki: I think the most noticeable trend in the upcoming season and the current season is going to be prints. Bold fun prints. I think people are going to go all out and make statements because they have been confined to their homes all this year and will want to make up for this in 2021.
Q. Who is your number one fashion influencer?
Niki: I derive my inspirations from characters in shows, my most recent being Alexis from Schitt’s Creek. There is obviously Blake from Gossip girls. That is my all time inspiration. I think more than people I always derive my fashion inspiration from characters.
Q. What are the most essential pieces you must have in your closet?
Niki: I love basic essentials in the wardrobe. I feel like if you have invested in four or five basics, they will help you create so many different looks. For me basics definitely include denims, a white shirt, a belt, black boots and a nice blazer.
Q. If you could step into my shoes for a moment, what would you ask yourself that I haven’t yet?
Niki: I would definitely ask about the most embarrassing moment so far in my fashion blogging career. And trust me I have quite a few.
Q. What message do you have for our listeners and where can they connect with you?
