Q.You have been doing some fascinating work out there. All our listeners would like to know a bit more about your journey. How did it kick start and reach the point where you are today?
Lama: I started with creating my own personal style, adding new trends to my wardrobe. Then came the part of capturing my outfits as well as the street light shots or flat light shots. Having great photos is actually quite important. Sticking to a posting schedule on Instagram and posting content frequently. Then came the part of joining fashion community events and store appearances. Eventually building my own little community of bloggers, designers, stylists as well as PR friends is quite important. And above all building my audience.
Q. How is the world of a fashion expert according to you and what is that one thing about the industry that keeps you going?
Lama: that’s a very good question. Actually, for me, it means a lot to keep up with the latest trends and always keep on developing my own style. In fact, one essential thing about fashion that keeps me going is that it boosts my confidence so that I can stand out in a crowd of people. So therefore for me, fashion is a statement that I tell people around.
Q. Did you ever go through an awkward fashion phase or trend?
Lama: It’s rare that I come across something awkward that I didn’t like in fashion. I really love all the trends, even the crazy ones. But one trend which I found very ugly is the tide jackets. They look like dirty old carpets pulled out from the 50s. So it was definitely a no-go.
Q. Who would say is your number one fashion inspiration?
Lama: There are a lot of fashion icons and fashionistas that I take my inspiration from when it comes to fashion especially on Instagram. They are posting amazing and new looks. One of them really stands out and I adore her style. Her name is Noha Nabil. She is a very well-known Kuwaiti fashion influencer. She is a fashion icon. She is really amazing.
Q. You have collaborated with many national and international brands. Tell us more about that experience
Lama: It was a great exposure for me collaborating with national and international brands. It actually gave my platform a social buzz and at the same time bigger responsibility to keep nourishing these collaborations and grow new successful collaborations as well. It gave more value to the platform and more knowledge and experience matching different aspects and pieces of different brands.
Q. Although you have accomplished so much, what else would you like to achieve in the near future?
Lama: There is always a lot to be done and more work. I really aspire for more in the future like having my own clothing brand label and growing more on the social media platform. Always being in touch with my audience and growing more audience as well. I recently started creating more content on YouTube as well so I would really aspire to grow at that channel as well.
Q. You are currently working with Dubai Tourism on several campaigns while covering Dubai events and festivals. Tell us more about it.
Lama: As much as I adore Dubai, I really love having this opportunity to work with Dubai Tourism on several campaigns. They are really ongoing. I had this joining from the beginning for a long time ago, promoting constantly like different activates and events starting from Dubai Shopping Festival to Dubai Food Festival. There are always new places to discover in Dubai. I have been here for years and now with Dubai tourism, I discovered there are still many places where I can discover new things and create beautiful content about it featuring the beautiful activation across Dubai. It’s really amazing. I even attended and promoted concerts for famous singers; which was magnificent.
Q. If you could step into my shoes, what would you have asked yourself that I didn’t?
Lama: Something which I am very passionate about and would really love to talk about is the launch of my own perfume brand Lala Lama a couple of months ago which has been a great achievement for me and I received an amazing response from the audience and everybody who tried it. It is actually a spicy unisex perfume with three knots of Patchouli, Ambergris, and Bourbon Vanilla. It was a really amazing thing that I have done in my life.
Q. What message do you have for our listeners and all your fans and where can they connect with you?
Lama: I would love to tell them that you are all my motivation. You are what drives me to grind each and every day because I don’t want to let any one of you down.
