In this episode of Magical Mornings, we featured Chhavi Mittal. She is a digital content creator, an actor, writer, producer, a mommy influencer, a fitness enthusiast and the co-founder of Shitty Ideas Trending. Welcome Chhavi. We are glad to have you on our podcast.
Here’s the interview of Chhavi Mittal with UnitePod.
Q. You are an amazing actor and have been in the entertainment industry for over a decade. How has your journey been ever since your debut in the acting industry?
Chhavi: Thank you so much for that compliment. My journey started out because I felt a need to do something different and something which excited me. I have been an actor for many years. Before we decided to start Shitty ideas trending as our own content creation platform. The thing is that as an actor you do get to play a lot of roles and explore the creative side in you,But there are a lot of limitations as a television actor. There is a script that you have to follow. There is somebody else’s vision that you have to live. And I wanted to take it to the next level. That is one reason why we started SIT. Another reason was also that Mohit and I wanted to spend a lot of quality with our daughter and our respective television career was not allowing us to do that because if I was home he was shooting; if he was home then I was shooting. And Ariza would either get me or him and hardly ever both of us together. So that wasn’t the kind of lifestyle we wanted to give to our daughter. Hence the decision to start this journey was taken. And it’s still going on and it’s a lovely place to be in and there are so many things that I learn every day.
Q.You have been a versatile actor ever since. How has your journey been ever since your debut in the acting industry?
Chhavi: When you’ve played so many characters there is always something that you take away from the every character that you play. And I feel like I like to bring a part of me in every character that I play. That’s how I become the character and that’s how I make the character a part of my life. So all the character have been wonderful. It really hard to choose it,but if I have to then it would be the character of Rohini which I played in shitty ideas Trending because it is closest to my heart and many other people’s heart.
Q. Everybody has their own ambitions and dreams. How did you realize you have an instinct of becoming an actor?
Chhavi: Yes you are right. Everybody has their own ambitions in their life. But I think for me to say that becoming an actor was my dream would be wrong because that wasn’t my dream and still I am trying to figure out what my dream is. Why do I have to stop being at one thing. Why can’t we do more things at a time? And that’s why when I became an actor, after living the life of an actor; I realized that I wanted to be something else now. And that urge, want and hunger to do something different is what keeps you going. Because if my dream was to become an actor, I would be happy doing what I was doing and life would have stopped exciting me at the age of 24 because that’s when I became a n actor. So now when I do different things, that is when I realize that this is also something that I enjoy. I think only if a person tries a hand at different things can you identify which is the thing that you enjoy the most. How can you do just one thing and decide that this is the thing that I like to do the most unless you try everything. So yeah I still have a lot of dreams. I wish to become an editor someday; I wish to direct something someday. Why not? And I definitely want to write my own book because I am very fond of writing.
Q. Being in the limelight has its ups and downs. What positive and negative impacts have you had because of acting?
Chhavi: I think everything have its ups and downs and positives and negatives. Being an actor, I think the biggest ups and downs is probably the biggest negative that I came across because suddenly you are very popular when your show is on air and when its number one. And then suddenly for a lot of months there is nothing. The shows go off air and people forget because out of site is out of mind nowadays. And in the world of digital content, it’s even more true because your video lasts just a week or a few days. You constantly need to reinvent yourself and constantly need to be out there and putting fresh content every week on regular basis if you want to stay alive. But I think its true for any profession because the minute you start feeling that ‘oh I’ve arrived’ it’s the beginning of the decline that you are going to see in your career. So it’s really important to constantly reinvent yourself no matter what your career choice is.
Q. While going through your profile that you are a great singer. So was singing something you were passionate about since childhood?
Chhavi: Singing is something that I am still very passionate about. But more importantly it was a talent with which I was born. It’s a god gift because I started singing at the age of 4 and I used to sing very well. I gave my first performance at the age of seven and got a standing ovation in that performance. It is something that I was born with and constantly honed upon that skill; practise with a lot of learning. As a child when I was in school and college, I had singing lessons going on and I even have a Masters in Indian Classical music. I pursued singing till my masters after which I started acting and singing took a back seat. But the passion, it’s still on the forefront. If I got the time for the practise as much as I did when I was a child, I would still continue singing.
Q. What is that one myth about your profession that you want to debunk?
Chhavi: This is a very interesting question. I think the biggest myth about my profession is that just because you see somebody’s life on screen means you know them. People judge.People start to think that we know them completely and draw their own conclusions about our lives. I think that is the biggest myth. We are the absolutely the same as you. We have the same fears and doubts. We have the same struggle that we have to go trough and we all have our own journeys. The only thing that is different is journey. How you walked on the path is different. What is the learning that you take away from the struggles that you have overcome is what is different. What is your perception towards the situation is what is different. But deep down to the core we are all humans and we are all the same. So that I think is something which is a myth.
Q. If you could step into my shoes, what would you have asked yourself that I didn’t?
Chhavi: Honestly, I am here to answer your questions. Please don’t make me do your job also. You ask me whatever you want and I will answer. But really I think you have asked me pretty much everything. And this has been a lovely chat and it was great to share my experience with everybody.
Q. What message do you have for our listeners and all your fans and where can they connect with you?
Chhavi: The message that I would like to give to all the listeners is that try and recognize your own talent. Whatever it is that you want to do in your life, please just don’t ape other’s lives. Just because someone was successful in doing something doesn’t mean you will be to. You should be doing what you are good at. Find what your talent is, find what your calling is even if you have to constantly experiment with something, and don’t hesitate. Don’t hesitate in failing and trying something else. That’s all I would like to say. And if you want to connect with me, instagram would be the best place. You can Dm me on instagram or you can send me a comment on my youtube channel BeingwomanwithChhavi. That also is someplace that I am very active.
Chhavi,It was great having you here. I hope you and your family grow more and get to make amazing memories together with shitty ideas trending. I am sure everybody is gonna enjoy this podcast. Thank you once again for joining us.
Chhavi: Thank you so much for having me. This was lovely and I hope the listeners had fun to. Love and peace to all.
